Eye splice is the method of developing or creating a permanent loop at the end of the multiple stranded rope by means of rope slicing. In this process the ends of the rope are tucked together at the back end forming a loop.

The steps to make an eye splice boating knot are:

• First, separate all three rope strands. If the synthetic rope is not there then keep it intact using a tape around them.
• Now, separate the strand keeping in mind the required length and untangle them.
• Now, begin process of the splice,by taking the stranding rope part in the hand and twist the grain against it so that the distance is created in between the two strands. Now, the tapped stand can be passed from the gap which is made recently and pull it tightly.
• Continue splicing by alternating the rope sides. The part of the next strand which is standing on the rope can be taken, twisted in the opposite direction in order to create the gap between the two ropes. Then, the unraveled second strand of the strand is passed from the gap. This method is to be applied again on the third strand too and then fourth one and finally the fifth one.
• In the end, tie the end knot and splice out the spliced area from the rope. Trim the rope ends and in case the synthetic rope is used then burn the ends or tie the ends using the wrap tape surrounding the ends of the rope.
