Lupus Auto Immune

Lupus is an auto immune disease which means that it affects the connective tissue, which is responsible for binding together the organs and tissues, nerve tissues, muscles, endocrine system, and digestive system of the body.

Lupus is also known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. This disease is characterized by chronic and acute inflammation of various tissues in the body. Actually, the patients suffering from lupus produce abnormal antibodies in the blood which starts attacking the tissues of their own body instead of the foreign agents.

As the antibodies and the inflammation could effect any of the cells in the body so lupus has the ability of infecting any number and any part of the body. It can even infect skin, kidneys, lungs, nervous and joints.

Causes Of Lupus Auto Immune:

The exact reason for the abnormal auto immunity which results in lupus is not yet known. But genetics, ultraviolet rays, certain medicines or viruses can be few causes. Some of these causes are discussed below:

The changes in the genes increases the tendency for the development of the diseases like lupus, disorders caused by the auto immune thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis etc. Some studies considers few hormones of the women to be responsible for the development of lupus.

Symptoms Of Lupus Auto Immune:

The symptoms of lupus auto immune vary as the disease do not affect one single part of the body. The symptoms depends on the part where the infection has taken place. Such as:

  • Symptoms Of Joint Infection: If lupus infects joints then it will be characterized by the intermittent pain in the joints which can be accompanied by the inflammation in the multiple joints. Deformity in the joints could also be noticed but it is very rare.
  • Symptoms of Infection on Skin And Mucous Membrane: If the lupus infects the skin then rashes will be noticed across the cheeks and the nose, bumps or patches will be there on the thin skin, sun exposed areas on the neck, upper chest and elbows will have red, raised portions. Ulcers can occur on the mucous membranes. Redness, and swelling will be there around the nails.

Some common symptoms includes fever which is minor in the beginning and becomes severe slowly, headaches, epilepsy etc.
