Tips to Clean Make-Up Brushes
Make-up brushes are one of the most important accessories required for a perfect make-up. Make-up brushes are available in different styles and quality. The bristles of these brushes are made up of natural squirrel hair or synthetic fiber. No matter the material used but the important part is that the brushes get dirty too often.
Besides the make-up residue these brushes are coated with dead skin, body oil, etc. hence making them excellent place for bacteria. The bacteria residing in your make-up brush not only increases the risk of skin infection but it also decreases the life of your brush. Listed below are few important and quick cleaning tips for your make-up brushes:
- Every time you use your brush make sure that you wipe the bristles with fresh baby wipes. This cuts down the build-up of body oil, dead skin and make-up residue.
- Make sure that once in a week you soak your make-up brushes in a bowl of lukewarm water mixed with capful of mild shampoo and 3-4 drops of tea tree oil.
- With the help of your fingertips gently rub the bristles for at least 30 seconds. Now rinse the brushes in warm water and make sure that no shampoo is left.
- Then with the help of a clean towel pat dry each brush. Make sure that you keep them in warm, clean and dry place.
- Never try to sterilize your make-up brushes by boiling them. High temperatures are likely to ruin the brushes.
- In case you are not satisfied with results of the above cleaning method then it is better to replace your brushes.
- Avoid sharing your make-up brushes as it might increase the chance of skin infection.
- While washing your brush make sure that you don’t apply pressure as it might loosen the bristles.
- While using shampoo make sure that you use the one for normal hair and without conditioner.
- Do not forget to add tea tree oil as it is potent anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent.
- Before using them again make sure that they are completely dry.
