Yoga for Height!

Given a chance, everyone wants to increase ones height, but there are various reasons why we cannot increase our height after reaching certain age. Whatever the reasons, there are few yoga exercises that will help you increase your height.

Yogasanas are likely to work best on those who haven’t crossed 19 years of age. But many adults have had the feeling of being taller, as yoga stretches and relaxes all the muscles of the body, adding to a better posture.

Here are the asanas (exercises):

1.    Tanasana: Lie down on floor facing the ceiling. Bring your hands on to your head with fingers interlocked, and opened outwards. Slowly, while inhaling stretch the entirety of your body. Your toes should pull to one side, while your hands pull to another. Do not try to overstretch yourselves, just stretch only to a comfortable level.  Slowly, exhaling, comeback to normal position.

2.    Matsyasana:  Lie on your back. Slowly put one leg over the other, (like you would when sitting cross legged). Reach your toes with your hands, and slowly raise your head, and bend your neck. Reach to your position where you feel like an arch, resting on buttocks, and head, and your chest at the highest curve. Take a deep breath and hold. Slowly come back to normal position in reverse order.

3.    Padhahastana: Stand erect, and raise your hands straight over your head. Slowly bend forward, and try reaching the ground beside your feet, without bending your knees. Hold till you are comfortable. Slowly comeback.

4.    Chakrasana: Lie on your back. Bring your heels towards hips. Place hands beside your shoulders, fingers pointing down and parallel to your body. Slowly, while inhaling, put pressure on your hands and feet and raise your body. You will now be in a semi circular position. Breathe normally when you are in final position. Hold as long as you can and come back slowly
One of the key facts about Yoga is Don’t Over Do it! If you cant do it, do not force your body to do it. Instead you can always take help of a person or an object (firmly grounded) with your asana (posture)
