Tips for Eliminating Bad Breath!
Imagine how you would feel when you have to discuss something important and the person you need to get close to has this great feature called Bad Breath! What if the other person is you yourself. Would you like getting closer to yourself. Have you ever wondered if you have bad breath?
Bad breath in simpler terms is caused by a whitish coating that covers the posterior of your tongue. Though brushing and flossing help to an extent, keeping bad breath away requires a bit more.
Here are few tips to keep bad breath away (and keep people closer to you):
Brush and Floss – if you aren’t both ‘flossing’ and ‘brushing’, it is as good as saying only 70% of your mouth is clean.
Wash your Tongue Regularly – Use a brush lightly or a tongue cleaner to wash off the mucous layer on the posterior of your tongue. You need to do it daily twice in order to avoid having more bacteria settle down in your mouth.
Drink Plenty of Water – Apart from being a healthy habit, water washes left over food particles in the mouth, and keeps saliva flowing in your mouth. Saliva not only helps in digestion it also kills any harmful bacteria.
Reduce smoking and alcohol - Smoking and Alcohol dry up your mouth easily, and a dry mouth is a haven for bad breath causing bacteria.
Use Chlorine Dioxide Mouthwashes – Mouthwashes with lots of alcohol only act externally. Chlorine Dioxide mouthwashes give oxygen to your mouth, which in turn kills bacteria. (if you are wondering how bacteria survives in oxygen – the mucous membrane on the posterior of the tongue, acts as protecting sheet. That’s why cleaning off tongue helps)
Use the tips above and escape bad breath from hurting your relationships. But importantly meet your Dentist atleast Once a Year!
