Pregnant? Congrats! But don’t forget to Exercise

Prolonged rest can be a cause of worry for anybody, and pregnant women are no exception to this phenomenon. And for those who have been ordered Complete Rest because their doctor is anticipating a high risk pregnancy, it can be more of a problem.

Extreme rest is supposed to give cardiovascular deconditioning, musculoskeletal problems, skin problems, and can also create psychological problems.

Hence, doctors advise that it is always better to have something exercise rather than complete rest.

Here are few dos and don’ts

Don’ts:

Avoid doing exercise that involve jumping, overheating your body, leaping, and sudden movements.

Dos:
1. If you generally enjoy dancing, biking, aerobics etc, check with your doctor how well is it going to be for you to continue them and for how long?
2. Swimming is good for everyone, as it increases weightlessness, while also giving you much needed cardiovascular exercise.
3. Yoga is a great stressbuster. However, there are only few yoga exercises that one is allowed to do during pregnancy.
4. Walking is for takes. Even though you cannot avoid walking, it is always better that you train yourself to walk when you are pregnant. It so happens that as the baby grows your center of gravity is a bit disturbed making you off balance sometimes.

In any case, seek advice from your doctor. It is extremely important.
