How to Apply Sun Screen?

Come June, America is sweating! And while it is still spring this is the right time to think of how to use your Sun Screen lotion. Most people believe that they are already taking care of their Skin with sun screen usage, but it is far from the truth.
The following tips will be helpful to you in understand what to expect from a sunscreen and how to apply it. These tips hold true for all seasons, whenever you want to venture out into sun!
- UVA and UVB, both forms of Ultra Violet Rays, affect the inner and outer parts of the skin respectively. Hence, SunScreen you use should have a Sun Protection Factor that fights both!
- UVB protection plateaus with Sun Protection Factor (SPF) - 30. Do not go buy over 30. It is going to be useless.
- A “broad-spectrum” sunscreen with a wavelength over 370nm is recommended for skin protection.
- Take enough sunscreen, i.e. 1.5 ounces. Or you will be only saving your sunscreen, not your skin.
- Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before venturing out into the sun. And make sure your skin is clean and dry before applying.
- And whenever you have been into water, or after every 2-3 hours apply sunscreen again.
- Use wonderful sunglasses for your eyes, hat for your hair, and easy loose clothing. It really helps the way you feel, and also your skin.
- If possible avoid Sunlight between 11am and 3pm.
Note that Sun’s intensity increase with altitude. That means you need to re-apply sunscreen in smaller intervals! And also note that even cloudy weather needs sunscreen. For children they need more care as most damage from sunlight is done before they are 18!
