How to choose the best daycare for your child?

daycare7.jpgTake time and visit few daycare centers before deciding on which one to choose. You could ask your friends and relatives for referrals.

  1. You would always want your child to be in safe hands. So it becomes essential to find out more about the daycare centre you would be sending your child to.
  2. Talk to the teachers and the other staff. Do not hesitate to ask them whatever you want to know.
  3. To get more details regarding the staff and environment of the daycare, you can also ask the parents of other children in the daycare.
  4. Two or three visits could tell you - How does the staff treat the children? Are they caring and patient enough? Do they treat children with respect?
  5. Find out whether the daycare is nationally accredited, state licensed or regulated.
  6. The atmosphere that your child would be placed in should be healthy in all respects. This affects both the physical and psychological health of your child. Check if the bathrooms are clean and big enough with all facilities. The rooms must be well lit, well ventilated, well furnished and clean.
  7. During your initial visits to the childcare, just notice whether the children there are happy and busy. Are disciplines and rules followed? Do they provide nutritious food to children?
  8. Do they provide time for free play? Are there enough toys, games and art supplies for children?

From your busy schedule, always keep some time apart to be spent with your child. More than anything else, it is your love and care that the child needs. Even the best daycare centre cannot provide the kind of love, care and concern the parents or grandparents shower on their children.
