Tips to get rid of bedbugs

bedbug_main.jpgAfter 50 years, bed bugs in United States have made a grand comeback. About 50 states have reported the outbreak of bedbugs.

Bedbugs can stay on your mattresses and can multiply rapidly within few days. The small brownish wingless insect sucks the human blood while asleep at night. You can identify bedbug infestation easily as the area will have an offensive smell, dark fecal spots, blood stain from crushed bugs and eggshells. Their favorite hiding spots are inside the crevices of the mattresses, loosened wallpaper, cushions, chairs, sofas, picture frames, cracks in the wall, bed frames, headboards and box springs.

  1. Place the infested item in hot sun for few days.
  2. Vacuuming is also an effective way of eradicating bugs. Vacuum frequently with a high-suction vacuum.
  3. Use stiff brush to scrub infested surfaces so that the eggs will get thoroughly dislodged.
  4. Removable and washable items should be laundered in hot water.

If these treatments do not work, it would be best to seek the help of a professional pest control firm. But do not use insecticides or pesticides on bedding.
