Psoriasis is an inflammation of the skin that causes red and itchy patches on your skin. Psoriasis causes the skin cells to multiply 10 times faster than normal.
- Exposure to cold aggravates psoriasis.
- Use lukewarm water to wash your skin. Avoid washing your skin frequently.
- Soak your skin in water containing tar solution or Epsom salts for 15 minutes.
- Salicylic acid ointment promotes the shedding of the psoriatic scales and makes the skin smooth.
- Taking doses of vitamin E is effective in the treatment of psoriasis.
- Apply cabbage leaves on the affected area and then wash them.
- Exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet light treatments also helps. Short exposure to sun reduces psoriasis; but too much exposure can damage your skin.
- Apply Aloe Vera gel and garlic oil in the affected area.
- Keep your skin moist and lubricated by using creams, ointments and lotions.
- Drinking buttermilk in liberal quantities helps treat this condition.
- Intake of cod liver oil, lecithin, linseed oil, and zinc heals psoriasis.
- Apply oil extracted from the outer shell of cashew nut.
- Apply sea water over the affected area.
Psoriasis usually occurs between the age of 15 and 30. It is not a contagious disease. It could be a result of injury to the skin, infections, seasonal changes or hereditary factors.
