Egg Increases Heart Disease Risk? : Unveil the Myth
Does including an egg in your diet increase the risk of heart disease? In spite of being a nutritious food rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals, most people eliminate eggs from their diet for fear of increasing their cholesterol level and also the danger of heart disease.
But recent studies show that intake of egg is safe and desirable for a healthy individual. Consuming one or two eggs in a day does not show much increase in the cholesterol level. There is a danger of heart disease only if the LDL (bad cholesterol) increases. But eggs, along with raising the level of LDL, also increase the level of HDL (good cholesterol) that clears the excess cholesterol from the blood. If the ratio of HDL and LDL remains constant, then there is no fear of being a prey to cardiovascular diseases. Though eating 3 eggs every day increases the cholesterol level, it increases both the HDL and LDL, thus keeping their ratio constant and eliminating the dangers of heart disease.
