Some tips to improve digestion

  1. Have a spoon of lemon juice with ginger adding a pinch of salt before meal.
  2. Avoid cold drinks during meal times and do not eat food taken directly from the refrigerator. Drinking very cold water, ilk or juice taken from the refrigerator is not good for digestion. Cold water or drinks can slower down the digestive process. Have warm water or tea to boost the digestive process.
  3. Have food at regular time intervals. For good digestion have lunch between 12 and 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Lunch should be the largest meal of the day.
  4. Dinner should be taken before 8 p.m. and should be lighter than lunch.
  5. Drink fresh yoghurt either after or during the meal. The bacteria lactobacilli in curd lubricate the intestines and help in proper digestion.
  6. First eat those food items that are easier to digest followed by the tougher ones. Also chew the food properly.
  7. Avoid eating under stress. Eating in a hurry inhibits the production of hydrochloric acids and other enzymes necessary for digestion.
  8. Drinking liquid with meals will interfere with the digestive process. It dilutes the concentration of hydrochloric acid needed for proper digestion.

Remember that we eat food so that our body will get all the nutrients required for its growth and maintenance. So do not grab the food and eat in a hurry just to satisfy your hunger.
