Teflon Can Harm Your Baby
This is a caution for the parents of those babies being raised on Teflon. For generations Teflon has made life easy for most American homes with the non-stick cookware and other kitchen products. Teflon has become so much a part of every individual that it has begun to flow through our veins.
Teflon is polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE). Overheating of this material is highly toxic. Perflurooctanic acid (PFOA) used for making Teflon is found in non-stick cookware, coatings on raincoats, takeout food containers and stain resistant carpets. This is considered to be potential carcinogen that can harm newborn babies as they are more vulnerable to toxins. It can cause cancer and birth defects in animals and aquatic organisms.
According to a study by the 3M Company, of 600 children tested, 96% had PFOA in their blood. Researchers at John Hopkins Hospital have found PFOA in the umbilical cord blood of 99% of newborns tested over a five-month period.
Teflon poisoning results in damaged and deformed body organs in the newborns. Pregnant women need to be very careful of this toxin as if will harm their unborn child. If people buy clothing made of Teflon, it can even harm by penetrating into the skin. Birth defects due to Teflon poisoning have become quite common.
