How to Take a Shower?

Shower not only keeps your skin clean, it also protects it from infection and other skin problems. It helps you relax and feel better. But, if you have special needs like recent surgery check with your caregivers before taking a shower. Here we guide you on how to take a shower.

Keep-in-touch Items

  • Bath towels and washcloths
  • Bath blanket
  • Soap, lotion, powder and deodorant
  • A chair, shower tub if needed
  • Clothing
  • Slippers

Before the Shower

Close the windows and doors of the bathroom, and adjust the room temperature to keep the room warm while showering. Turn on the shower. Adjust the water flow and change it’s temperature levels to warm before you get in the shower. You need to be careful when adding more hot water. If the water is too hot, your skin may burn. Steam from the water helps keep the bathroom warm.

Taking the Shower

Remove your clothes and get into the shower. In case you feel weak due to any health reasons, take the help of someone. Ask that person to wash and rinse your back if you cannot reach it yourself. Wash your body with soap and rinse with water.

After Shower

  • When shower is over, turn off the water and step out. Use grab bars to get out of the shower.
  • Sit on the closed toilet or chair or stand to dry yourself. Cover yourself with bath blanket if you get cold.
  • When you feel comfortably warm, gently dry between legs, under arms, behind knees, and between toes.
  • Get dressed, or take other’s help you get dressed.
