Self-esteem is all about how you see yourself – it is nothing but the respect you earn for yourself. Self esteem is very vital for the growth of your personality. There are two main factors that can be the reason for lack of self confidence. One of the reasons could be your own self doubt, and the other could be a result of other’s feedback. Here are some ways in which you can boost your confidence:
- Reflect on your strengths and weaknesses. Think of ways in which you can develop your strengths and put them to use. Also think of ways in which you can overcome your weaknesses.
- If you find that any of your colleague’s or friend’s reactions are causing you lose confidence, try to distance yourself from that person.
- Try to find out what aspects of yourself you want to change. Do not try changing yourself totally at a single go.
- Do not think about yourself in negative terms.
- Do not dismiss or ignore complements. Accept them graciously.
- Associate yourself with positive and supportive people who will influence your thoughts and actions, and instill confidence in you.
- Voice your demands and needs. If you find that some things are beyond the limits of your tolerance, say it out.
- Try to face challenges in life without worrying about the results. Do not back away thinking that you might fail.
- You could join social clubs or other organizations to expand your social network.
- Indulging in sports and games can help you gain confidence.
