Lifestyle Changes Save You from Type II Diabetes
“Healthier lifestyle is as effective as taking prescription drugs in reducing Type 2 diabetes risk”, says a recent research study.
Researchers from Leicester reviewed various studies that measured the effectiveness of different interventions like lifestyle, anti-obesity drug and diabetes drug on people with impaired glucose tolerance.
These studies revealed that lifestyle changes like switching to a healthier diet and doing regular exercise are equally effective as taking prescription drugs in treating type 2 diabetes. On average, lifestyle changes are found to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by around half. And, moreover lifestyle changes cause less or no side effects.
However, the researchers suggest both lifestyle changes and prescription drugs to prevent the development of Type 2 diabetes. As Type 2 diabetes is growing at high rates, everyone is advised to adopt required lifestyle changes to prevent the risk.
