Improve your Child’s Diet
Do you have regular food fights with your child? Children are often very choosy about their food. But the food of their choice need not be a healthy and nutritious one. A nutritious diet is very essential for the health and wellbeing of your child. Here we have charted out some excellent strategies to improve your child’s diet.
- Ask for your child’s suggestions while planning the menu. Amongst the food that your child likes, choose the ones with good nutritional value. Add nutritional food items to your child’s favorite food.
- Introduce a variety of food items in your child’s diet. Introducing newer varieties will make your child happy.
- Stock up only healthy food items at home. While shopping for food, do not buy food items that are not good for your child’s health – colas, cookies, chocolates, chips and the like. You could replace the sugary drink that your child likes with fruit juices.
- Having cereals with milk or juice is an excellent breakfast for your kids. Your child’s lunch can include sandwiches, yoghurt, fruits, carrot, whole meal biscuits.
- Let your child have food at regular time intervals. Schedule your child’s diet.
- Eating together with family is highly beneficial for your child as it creates healthy eating styles and habits. But do not argue over anything during mealtime.
- Avoid eating in front of television. Your child may tend to overeat.
- Let your child eat only to his/her stomach full. Do not force them to clean their plates.
- Do not threaten or bribe your child if he/she does not eat.
- It is the parents who are supposed to set example for their children by having only healthy food and avoiding the unhealthy ones.
- When your child does not eat, do not force or punish him/her.
With age, your child’s nutritional requirements change and so do their eating habits.
