Tips to Make Your Ceiling ‘Feel Rich’

Ceilings are the most overlooked part of your house. This thought occurred to me when I was bedridden for a month after an accident, and had to face the ceiling throughout the day. After a night of colorful dreams, I woke up to face the blank white ceiling of my room. Now, that seems a very dull way to greet your day. I spent my days lying down and painting pictures. I made the pictures and got them stuck up on the ceiling.

It might not seem sensible to fill your ceilings with paintings. But, there are other ways to add flavor to the ceiling of your room. It is not the place for only tubes, bulbs, fans and chandeliers to be hung. Here are some ways to make your ceiling feel rich:

  • White color painted on the ceilings give an elevated effect. It creates an illusion of height. This is because colors of lighter tones reflect more light than the darker ones and make the walls or ceilings appear wider.
  • You can also try a different color on your ceiling which is light and yet not white. Painting your children’s room blue with white clouds gives it the “sky effect”, which your kids love. Painting your room ceilings with gray, and hanging stars and moon from the roof also works good. This gives your room a “stellar effect”.
  • You can also use tin ceilings to decorate your room but that would cost more money and labor. In that case, you have to take great care in fixing the panels. The fitting instructions have to be followed very carefully.
  • The corners and borders of your ceiling can be given piping. The color chosen for piping has to blend with the wall and the ceiling color, and yet has to stand out a little.
