Tips on Buying A Treadmill !

Ate more during this holiday season? Planning to shape up in the New Year? Then, treadmills are the best choice to burn calories and get the right shape. Studies have already shown that they are the least likely machines to gather dust and have more life.
Here are the things to consider when shopping a treadmill:
- Get your running shoes and test various treadmill models in the store. This is a must to choose the best.
- Check the motor size. A minimum of “two continuous horsepower” is necessary for a healthy workout. If you want to run on your treadmill, a three horsepower motor is good.
- The deck should be at least ¾-1 inch thick, 20 inches wide and 55 inches long. Runners need a longer deck than walkers.
- Make sure that the machine doesn’t wobble and also it is shock absorbent.
- Check the program options and display for ease of use. A good selection of programs keep your boredom at bay. Don’t take treadmills with hydraulic pistons because you can’t change the incline while running.
- Treadmills are at more risk of breakdown than any other exercise equipment. So check out the warranty. The frame should have a lifetime warranty and the motor for 10 years or more. Normally parts are given two to five years warranty. If necessary buy an extended warranty to cover any future repair costs.
- You don’t need a gym quality treadmill, because they are made heavy duty to withstand hours of abuse each day.
- Buying a treadmill over the Web or through an Infomercial is not a good idea. You have to try out the equipment to get the best one.
