How To Apply Lipstick
Lipstick adds the final touches to any makeup and complements your face. It is essential for adding glamour and brightness to your face. However, many women do not know the art of applying lipstick and end up looking shabby and ugly.
Here are some helpful tips on applying lipstick:
1. First exfoliate your lips, so that they don’t look chapped and flaky. Use a soft toothbrush or a washcloth with a little vaseline and exfoliate gently.
2. Apply all other makeup before putting on lipstick and lip liner.
3. Choose the proper lipstick and lipliner that goes well with your attire. You can choose a matte or glossy lipstick depending on the occasion and time. Matte lipsticks go well during the day, when you want to give a natural look to your face, and glossy ones go well during evenings. Matte lipsticks are best for workday makeup, while satin and gloss finishes are good for parties.
4. Begin by dabbing a small amount of colorless lip balm or petroleum jelly to give a little moisture to your lips. Blot the excessive lipbalm with a tissue, so that it isn’t greasy.
5. Use a lipliner, that is one shade darker than your lipstick to outline the lips. Draw a thin line along the edges of your lips, highlighting the arcs on your upper lip.
6. Now apply lipstick using a brush. Apply it evenly within the edges of your lips, without running onto the lipliner.
7. Open your mouth wide enough and brush the lipstick into the corners, so that there are no unfinished edges.
8. Then blot your lipstick using a tissue paper and then reapply, so that it stays longer.
9. Balance heavy eye makeup with a soft lip color, and a rich and boldly colored lipstick with soft eye makeup.
10. Remember to touch lips again after a meal or drink.
11. Lipstick tends to smear and smudge very easily. To avoid this, apply a thin layer of foundation and powder on the lips before applying lipstick.
