Baby Sleeping in Car Seat, Wake Him Up
“If you leave your baby sleeping unattended in car seats, she will be at the risk of life-threatening breathing difficulties”, warn researchers.
If your baby is left sleeping in car seats, his or her breathing gets obstructed and may not get enough oxygen to their bloodstream. This is because the baby’s head loll forward as he or sleeps, and their jaws press down against their chests. This restricts the upper airway and causes breathing problems.
So, when your journey gets over, take your baby out of car seat. If the baby is sleeping wake him up.
If your baby wakes up, yes it’s a pest to get him back to sleep again. But it’s much better than leaving him alone. Car seats are not meant to use as household beds.
