Health Benefits of Smoking!
All of us clearly know that smoking damages our health in many ways. But recent research studies claim that ’smoking is not completely bad’. Smoking is found to reduce the incidence of some diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. This is known as a ‘protective effect’ in medical terms.
Research findings proved that smoking could reduce the risk of cancer of endometrium, membrane lining of the uterus. In post-menopausal women it reduced the risk of endometrial cancer by an estimated 30%. This may be because of the effects of smoking on oestrogen levels.
Endometrial cancer risk increases by using the drugs containing oestrogen. Tobacco smoke can counter the effects of oestrogens and decrease endometrial cancer risk. However health researchers adivise not to smoke as some 30 times as many lives are lost due to smoking than those saved through lowered risk of eudiometrical cancer.
Research studies also proved that tobacco use protects from Parkinson’s disease and hypertension during pregnancy. However, though smoking helps in controlling hypertension, it has many other negative effects.
It is also proved that smoking can protect against the development of Alzheimer’s disease in some measure.
Though smoking helps you in the above ways the best advice is to quit smoking because smoking has more negative health effects than positive effects.
