However, if the mother’s diabetes was not in control during pregnancy, the baby can very quickly have low blood sugar after birth. So, the baby must be closely watched until his or her body adjusts to the amount of insulin it makes.
Extra large babies have more chances of becoming obese and develop Type 2 diabetes later in life. It is the responsibility of the mother to make the child develop healthy eating and regular exercise habits as he or she grows up. It helps in lessening the chance of obesity and Type 2 diabetes.
