Why Teens are easily addicted to Alcohol?
Of course teens are more prone to addictions, because of their ‘attitude’. However US researchers have gone a step ahead and tried defining this ‘attitude’.
For an adult the negative affects of alcohol make him/her stop or try quitting it. But in teenagers, the brain is so ‘active’ that it doesn’t respond to the effects of alcohol.
A clear example is the way adults drive after two drinks as compared to how teenagers drive. Teenagers look more in control of their actions. And hence teenagers can ‘down’ more to reach that high.
Also the effects of hang over are also very few in teens, thanks to growth hormones. As they take alcohol regularly and yet don’t get affected, they think they are in control. Thus transforming habit into an addiction.
Researchers say that this attitude will cause many long term problems as the teens grow. So if you know of a teenager, who thinks he is in control, tell him that his brain is working well, not his body.
